- The inside of a spur-thighed tortoise's carapace is yellow with black spots, which are more noticeable in juveniles. Their heads are also yellow with some black spots.
- Spur-thighed tortoises should be kept on a dry substrate, such as beech woodchips or ProRep's Tortoise Life substrate. They like to dig and burrow, so you can provide natural wood or decorations for them to do this.
- Spur-thighed tortoises can be found in a variety of habitats, including semi-arid scrub, grassland, brush areas, coastal dunes, marshlands, rocky hillsides, and pine woods.
